This is a favourite image taken in Poland: Each evening, white storks would gather in a field that had some old, rotting rounded hay bales and the storks would occupy a bale as a territory. However, there were more storks than bales of hay, so a stork without a bale would fly at a stork occupying a bale and try and knock him off, rather like a game of ‘king of the castle’. The stork that was dislodged from his throne would then fly at another stork and try and knock him off the bale to regain territory and so it went on! Great fun and great to photograph. I like this shot as I managed to get the frame vertical to get the attacking bird in the image as he dropped onto the other bird.
